About Us - Lakes Holistic
My name is Julie Brockbank and I am a Holistic Therapist living and working in South Lakeland area.
My current base is a small private treatment room in the village of Staveley, situated at the base of the beautiful Kentmere valley, but I am also able to offer home visits  around the Windermere and Kendal areas for those with mobility problems.
This web site has been established in order to provide information on the treatments that I offer, provide a valuable link to some of the products and services that I recommend, and details of associates that I can recommend through a close working relationship.
My own personal experience of ill health brought me unexpectedly, but pleasantly into the field of complementary medicine.
Illness in some cases can bring about change, seen as an awakening of the spirit, and a connection to understanding the workings of the inner self ....
Working with, and studying a variety of therapies has helped me to gain some understanding of the complex functioning of the human body, and its many cries for nurturing and healing on all levels.
My recovery and learning journey began in 1999 when, whilst attending regular acupuncture treatments for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E), I became interested in the way complementary therapies treat the ‘Whole person’ and not just the symptoms that ill health presents.
This approach in many cases, including my own, leading to recognition and acceptance of what the body is trying to tell us, emotional self responsibility for that illness, and in turn the knowledge to correct poor lifestyle habits, and negative belief patterns thus reducing stress, and aiding recovery.
My training in Complementary medicine began in November 1999 when I took my Level One Reiki tuition and initiation, at the time I undertook my Reiki One training was to support the acupuncture treatment I was receiving on a regular basis. Reiki One gave me the ‘tools’ to take responsibility for my illness and begin my own healing journey.
Level Two Reiki was taken in March 2000, and it was at that time I discovered I wanted to share Reiki by helping others. Reiki Mastership was attained in accordance with Usui Shiki Ryoho Tradition in October 2000, and further training in Original Reiki was taken to Master level with Taggart King in 2003. The satisfaction of seeing others benefit from Reiki lead me to offer other relaxing treatments, treatments that offer just a little space for the body to let go and heal itself.
My continuing training through the IIHHT has enabled me to gain Diplomas in Indian Head Massage, Reflexology and Aromatherapy Massage, Swedish Massage and Advanced Body Massage. For every stage of my training I am indebted to those who passed on their knowledge and skills so generously, I feel blessed to have had such good tutors.
In 2001 I studied Vertical Reflex Therapy through the Lynne Booth training school, a very powerful and useful tool especially when incorporated with Reflexology or Therapeutic Massage.
As part of ongoing education in 2003 I attended Lancaster University part time to study Jungian Psychology, attaining a credible Pass with Commendation for my chosen dissertation into Dream Analysis.
Ear Candling has been a more recent and popular addition to the range of treatments which I offer, with certification gained in 2006 through Raye Bower. I am currently a member of The Federation of Holistic Therapists and The International Council of Holistic Therapists.
Travel and Fund Raising
In recent years I have developed a keen enthusiasm for travel, and I am fortunate enough to have a very understanding family who wholly support my taste for adventure.
In April 2004 intrigued and hungry for further knowledge and understanding of healing, I took 3 weeks out and travelled to The Casa De Dom Inacio in Central Brazil to witness the work of the one of the world’s most powerful psychic healers- Joao De Deus.
Whilst there I had the rare opportunity to meet Joao, and ultimately experience his amazing psychic surgery, this was justly a profound and life changing experience.
I am beholden to those whom I met at the Casa De Dom Inacio who shared their knowledge, love and understanding so generously, and for the healing which I received from Joao. See links for more information on The Casa De Dom Inacio
In March 2005 my travels took me to India where I undertook a fundraising trek in the Himalayas, trekking for 5 days to an altitude of 10,000 feet was something that 6 years earlier would have seemed like an imposable dream. The trek offered me the exceptional opportunity to visit Dharamasala (home to the exiled Spiritual Tibetan Leader – The Dalai Lama) where upon I received teaching and empowerment from His Holiness, this was a truly remarkable humbling, rare  and spiritual experience.
The Julie Brockbank India Trek raised £5,000 for the charity Action for Blind People, a charity with which I am involved. Recognition for this fund raising was acknowledged by Action for Blind People in the form of an invitation to a luncheon at the House of Lords
2006 saw the approach of my 20th wedding anniversary and to celebrate the occasion my husband and I raised £8,000 for The Great North Air Ambulance by trekking the Inca Trail in Peru, a trek that that took in the notorious 14,000foot high Dead Woman’s Pass.
Last year my ambitions were realised when on Easter Sunday despite suffering dreadfully from altitude sickness my daughter and I staggered into Everest Base Camp 17,700ft high …….truly a dream come true, vowing never again, plans are now in progress to make a return visit.
A further £600 was raised by my daughter on the Everest Base Camp Trek.
The collective total raised for charity from the 3 treks stands in excess of £13,000 a huge Thank You to everyone who sponsored our efforts, and thank you also to those who more recently sponsored our abseil from the Tyne Bridge a total of £440.00 was raised for Macular Disease.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!'
 ‘Goethe’

Thank you all who have supported me on my journey.
